Dee Grissett, a Baltimore, Maryland native, has worked in the educational arena for over twenty-five years.  Eighteen of those years was spent employed as a Financial Aid Counselor in the private and state college environments.  Since 2005, she has worked for the Public Schools of Robeson County (North Carolina) currently serving as the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Coordinator. Growing up, she always loved to write, but had never thought to write a book. Dee was lead to publish this book after being diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow/plasma cells.  Keeping a journal was very therapeutic for her during her treatment process, while also trying to cope with other life-altering situations all at the same time.  Her goal in publishing this book is to share her experiences in hope of helping and encouraging others who may be in the same or similar situation.

Dee is a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church and illustrious Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She actively serves on several professional organizations to include National Education Association (NEA). North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE), Robeson Association of Educators (RAE), North Carolina Association of Career and Technical Education (NCACTE) and the Association of Career and Technical Education (ACTE).  Dee also serves on the Board of Directors for the Robeson Family Counseling Center, the Southeastern Family Violence Center, the North Carolina Association of Educators, the UNITE Education Foundation and the Suds of Love Truck Organization.  She resides in Lumberton, North Carolina.

About
My Book

"In Sickness and In Health - A Journalized Account of Coping with Multiple Myeloma" lets you walk in the shoes of a young woman who was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, cancer of the bone marrow/plasma cells.  This book shows how her faith was tested time and time again; not only in dealing with the cancer, but with many other life-changing situations that seemingly occurred all at the same time.

"In Sickness and In Health" is  both instructional and inspirational.  It clearly describes Demetria's experience as a cancer patient.  The author's testimony also reveals how faith in God and an optimistic attitude, can give one the strength to endure and overcome any obstacle in life.  People struggling with this disease, or who are simply going through a difficult life crisis, will find comfort and wisdom in the pages of this thoughtful book.  You will see, as she had to learn, that you must trust God in sickness and in health.
